The Mayans were a Mesoamerican civilization recognized for developing a written language of the pre Columbain Americas and also for their accomplishments in art, architecture, mathematics and astronomy. Their art was of a high level of aesthetic sophistication and iconographic perfection. This influenced their writing system which consisted of syllabic signs. CONDITION
