1893 Print Director General George Davis Saalburg Statue Republic Chicago FAR2 XAGA9 " in UmbriaThis is an ultra rare original 1893 color cover from the Chicago "The Inter Ocean" supplement of the Chicago World's Fair director general George R. Davis. Davis and Burnham designed the fair and took inspiration from earlier fairs. Shown dangling from Davis' robes is a model of the Statue of the Republic. The Statue of the Republic was sculpted by Daniel Chester French, and stood 65 feet tall. Unfortunately, it lit on fire in 1896 and was destroyed.
