Thomas Sheraton (1571 1806) was a furniture designer who based much of his styles on classical architecture. Sheraton was merely a designer of the furnishings, as no piece has ever been directly attributed to him, so when a piece of furniture is known as a "Sheraton," it merely refers to the style it was created in. Sheraton furniture was popular and fashionable in the
