Adam and Eve have eaten fruit from the Tree of Knowledge and are being expelled from the Garden of Eden by the angel. The architecture and archaic style recall the earlier Pre Raphaelite style, but the angel's flaming sword may have been inspired by a gas poker used to light Victorian coal fires!
